Foil fencingWEAPON
A foil is a sport thrusting weapon, which blade has a rectangular cross-section. The total weight of the foil is less than 500 g. The total maximal length of the foil is 110 cm. The maximal length of the blade is 90 cm. The blade shall have flexibility corresponding to the deflection of 5.5 cm minimum and 9.5 cm maximum. Pricks made with the force over 500 g shall be fixed. VALID TARGET AREA The valid target area in foil fencing is limited by hitting only on the body excluding pricks on the arms, legs and mask. The time interval for fixing a touch in case of simultaneous attacks is 300 milliseconds. Pricks made off the valid target area shall be discounted, and the bout shall be stopped. Pricks made on the body part being considered as off the valid target area can be scored as valid if the fencer covers his/her valid target area with the unarmed hand. |
