Greeting Dear friends! On behalf of the Russian Fencing Federation I want to welcome you warmly here, in St. Petersburg – an incredibly beautiful city with very interesting history. It is considered to be one of the major cultural centers of the world. The Fencing World Championship will be held in this city for the first time. Nevertheless, experts from St. Petersburg have a wide experience in organizing of big and important sports events. Recently Hockey and Handball World Championships were held here, the tournament “Fleuret de St. Petersburg” gathers the best foil fencers every year. The organization of these competitions satisfied all international requirements. The Championship will become the biggest fencing competition in the city’s sports history. According to our expectations, fencing masters from more than 100 countries will come to take part in it. It is a great honor and a big responsibility for us. We hope that this tournament will become a quality standard for competitions’ organizers all over the world. I wish the participants have beautiful and honest fights, the referees be more impartial and the guests enjoy professional fencing and also the beauty of the Northern Capital. Let the strongest win!
